Technology

Use of The District’s Technology Systems and Internet Safety Computers, computer networks, Internet access, and email are effective and important technological resources in today's educational environment. The Board of Education has installed computers, a computer network, including Internet access and an email system (referred to collectively as "the technology systems"), in order to enhance both the educational opportunities for our students and the business operations of the district. During the school day, students will utilize only the school’s network on electronic devices and will not use 3G, 4G or other public or private networks.

Network Connections

Students using non-district-owned devices who cannot connect to the district’s network need to resolve this issue outside of instructional time. The district does not allocate resources to troubleshoot connection issues with privately-owned devices.

Computer systems are business and educational tools. As such, they are made available in the district for education-related uses. The Administration will develop regulations setting forth acceptable use guidelines and procedures to be used by the Administration in an effort to ensure that such computer systems are used solely for education-related purposes. Additionally, the Board will implement a technology protection measure to block or filter Internet access to visual depictions that contain obscene material, contain pornography, and sites and materials which are deemed inappropriate by the administration. Administrators and teachers, with administrative approval, will be permitted to have filters modified for research or another lawful educational purpose. If such a request is denied, the teacher may appeal the decision to the superintendent.

As the owner of the network and computer systems, the board reserves the right to monitor the use of the district’s computers, computer systems, and networks.
